Spring has sprung! We hope all our students have a safe and fun spring break! Students will return to school April 21.

Throughout #NationalSchoolBreakfastWeek, students got to try new breakfast options every day and randomly won daily prizes. Here is our Grand Prize winner at SRE! He was so excited to win this scooter and said "This scooter is just my size, I will ride it everyday!" #makingapositivedifference

Today, SRE took on the annual OneBerkeley United Games with other schools across the district. OBUG has helped tear down barriers and create awesome memories for students with special needs and their “buddies” from the general education classrooms. It's such a special event for our students, staff and families as so many schools turn out for this epic field day event that promotes inclusiveness and unity among all of BCSD’s students. Check out some of the amazing moments from today at Stratford High School. The smiles and laughs were echoing across the field as everyone came together for this wonderful event. And Sparky the Sangaree Star was a hit once again! ⭐️ https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/116Es4GqzFndzCPs1UpZSXIfyXXvEd7sy

For the upcoming school year, all BCSD schools will use Rooms as their direct communication tools for parents, teachers, athletic coaches, club advisors, etc. Because Rooms is located in the Berkeley County School District mobile app, this streamlines communication and minimizes the number of apps parents and guardians need for communication. If you haven't already, download the BCSD app today and turn on notifications so you never miss a message.

Berkeley County School District (BCSD) has postponed the first day of school to Thursday, August 15, giving teachers and staff more time to prepare and students an extra day of summer break. This decision comes after recent severe weather and flooding prevented access to school buildings for three days, disrupting traditional classroom and school preparation time for teachers and staff.
“We value the dedication of our teachers and staff in preparing classrooms and schools, and this additional day will allow them to better prepare to receive more than 38,000 students on Thursday,” said BCSD Superintendent Dr. Anthony Dixon. “Last week, teachers completed virtual professional development and training so now they can focus on classroom and school needs Monday through Wednesday.”
School and district offices will be open regular hours, and extracurricular activities and athletic programs will also operate according to their normal schedule. Information and schedules for school specific meet the teacher and grade specific orientation days have been shared with families by school leaders.
Dixon added, “We understand that disruptions in schedules are not easy for anyone so we appreciate the understanding of our parents and community as we work to ensure that the first day is the best it can be for students and teachers on Thursday.”
Any weather day adjustments necessary as a result of this calendar change will be reviewed and communicated, if needed, at a later date.
